Podcast recording

A calm table setup for conversations with two to four hosts, broadcast mics and an engineer who watches levels while you focus on the story.

Three podcast hosts at table with microphones and engineer in background.

Podcasts rarely fail for lack of ideas — more often for rumble, uneven levels and tired voices after hours of talk. At our Overtoom podcast table, hosts sit with individual microphones, headphones and an engineer who listens without interrupting the flow.

We focus on spoken content: interviews, co-hosted shows, narrative podcasts and internal company formats — not full post-production with music under every segment unless you book that separately via mixing. Room and table size are covered in choosing a podcast room before you book.

How it works

  1. Intake

Share host count, target length, delivery format (WAV per voice or stereo) and publish date. We confirm times and parking info.

  2. Setup

Mics and boom arms per chair, headphone mixes, pop filters and table reflection check. Allow twenty to thirty minutes before the first words.

  3. Record

Multiple takes or one long session; the engineer flags issues and breaks. Water and comfort pauses belong on long days.

  4. Export

Split stems or a stereo mixdown plus basic edit (trim silences, clear starts). Download via link within the agreed window.

Table and room

The podcast table sits in a treated zone within our 3 studio areas in Oud-West — not the drum-heavy live room, but acoustic treatment that tames room tone without killing conversation. Two hosts face each other comfortably; with three or four chairs we adjust the table and mic angles so everyone speaks without overlap.

For layout advice read choosing a podcast room or ask podcast engineer Noor van Dijk via contact. Panels larger than four people are case-by-case, sometimes with an extra guest chair in the control room.

Tech and monitoring

Each host gets a dynamic or broadcast-style mic on a boom, personal headphones and a mix with voice and light side-tone. The engineer sits in the control room with meters and headphones, catching plosives or laughs that spike without stopping the talk.

We record multitrack so later edits stay possible: one mono WAV per host plus a stereo reference mix for quick review. 48 kHz, 24-bit is default — fine for Spotify, Apple Podcasts and later video sync.

Basic edit vs full production

€125 hourly and the €460 pack (four hours plus export) cover recording, supervision and light edit: trim long silences, clear in/out points — not word-by-word ums removal. Heavy dialogue editing, sentence-by-sentence noise reduction, intro music production and chapter markers are extra — quote via [email protected].

If your team already has an editor, we prefer clean stems with consistent naming (host1, host2, guest). For full episode mixes with music and jingles, move to mixing with a clear brief and references.

Pack vs hourly

The €460 pack covers four studio hours plus engineer and export — enough for many interview shows or two shorter episodes back-to-back with a break. Extra hours bill at €125 including 21% VAT.

Compare with vocal recording if you mainly track singing; podcast pricing targets table talk and longer conversational sessions.

Host preparation

Send question lists or bullet points beforehand — no mandatory script, but everyone should know their role. Avoid rustling clothes, jangling jewellery and open laptops on the table; phones on airplane mode in another room.

Drink water during recording; glasses are ready. Remote guests listening on video can be arranged on request (guest’s own laptop or tablet; no guarantee of perfect connection — that sits outside studio audio). Minimum participant age: 16, unless you plan a youth show with supervision — email details.

Delivery and turnaround

After a standard session, exports arrive within a few business days via secure link. Rush delivery for news formats is discussed upfront; may carry a surcharge. Files stay 24 months on our servers, then are removed per our privacy policy — keep your own copy.

Revisions on basic edit are limited: one round of small trims within five business days of delivery. Re-recording because content changed is a new session. Contract detail lives in terms and conditions.

Corporate and brand shows

Companies in Amsterdam and beyond use the studio for internal updates, customer stories and brand podcasts. Invoicing from Nephilimrivo B.V., VAT NL862310040B01; business payment term 14 days after approved quote. Say at intake if you need a DPA — see data processing agreement for personal data in recordings.

We do not publish client lists on the site; mentioning Nephilimrivo as recording location in show notes needs written OK. Logos in studio photos are agreed beforehand.

Practical: travel and hours

The studio is on Overtoom in Oud-West. Tram 1 stops at Overtoom (Overtoom / Vondelpark); from there it is about a six-minute walk. You can park bicycles at the entrance; cars use paid street parking or Q-Park Byzantium on Vondelstraat, roughly a ten-minute walk. Hours: Tuesday to Friday 11:00–22:00, Saturday 12:00–18:00. Closed on Monday. Sessions by appointment. Closed Monday; book podcast sessions Tue–Sat. Evening slots until 22:00 are popular after work — reserve early via contact or 020 244 8916.

40% deposit on confirmation; free reschedule up to 7 days ahead. We reply to requests within 2 business days. Studio facts on about; general audio questions on FAQ.

Not included

Transcription, translation, heavy sound design, location recording outside Overtoom 289, video direction and publishing to hosting platforms are not standard. Mastering a music intro is separate; we normalise spoken levels reasonably but do not certify LUFS for every platform rule.

Music in your episode must be cleared by you — see article 11 and disclaimer. Music-first projects fit band recording or vocal recording better than the podcast table.
