Mixing
We balance your stems or session files into a coherent song — with space, punch and a delivery ready for mastering.

A mix decides whether listeners hear your arrangement as intended or only a pile of separate tracks. At Nephilimrivo we work from your multitrack: no generic preset chain, but choices per instrument and per section of the song.
Upload stems after sessions elsewhere, after our vocal recording or band recording, or book an attended mix in the Overtoom control room. Turnaround and revision planning are outlined in mix turnaround planning and our terms and conditions.
How it works
Brief
You send stems or a session export, tempo, references and known issues (bleed, rumble). We confirm format and track list.
Import
We check phase, clipping and start points. Missing tracks or wrong sample rates are resolved before we start.
Mix
Balance, EQ, dynamics, space and automation per song. In attended sessions you decide at the monitors.
Deliver
Stereo mix WAV, optional instrumental and acapella, plus short notes. Revisions per agreed rounds.
Offline mix per song
€195 covers one song up to 48 tracks, including 21% VAT. Deliver printed WAV stems (24-bit preferred) or a consolidated export from Logic, Pro Tools, Ableton or Reaper. Vocals and drums may sit on buses; readable names and sync from bar one matter most.
We mix on nearfield monitors and check on headphones and a second speaker set when useful. A first version often lands within a few business days after complete delivery; busy release windows we discuss upfront via contact. More scheduling detail is in mix turnaround planning.
Attended mix hourly
To ride faders and hear choices immediately, book €95 per hour attended. Useful for tricky vocal stacks, hook fine-tuning or when you want to listen without running the console yourself. Two hours minimum is realistic for one already-organised song.
Attended time includes engineer, studio and basic export. Extra hours for heavy editing (vocal timing, drum replacement) are quoted explicitly. After the session you receive the same formats as offline unless agreed otherwise.
Stem delivery
Export without a limiter on the master bus; leave headroom. Supply bass, drums (kick, snare, overheads separate when possible), guitars, keys, synths, FX returns and vocals as separate files. Skip duplicates and muted tracks.
If you recorded here, we may still hold a session archive — ask within 24 months. External material uploads via agreed link. Unsure about mono/stereo or sample rate? Email [email protected] with a sample export.
Revisions and feedback
Each offline mix includes 2 revision rounds: you send time-stamped or bar-based notes, we adjust and deliver an updated bounce. Rounds cover balance, tone and level — not full rearrangement or new recording.
Extra rounds or large scope changes are billed hourly or per song after quote. Bundle revision notes in one email; spread over weeks counts as separate rounds. Limits and deadlines also appear in our terms and conditions.
Delivery formats
Default is a stereo mix as 24-bit WAV at 48 kHz, plus optional instrumental (no lead vocal) and acapella for promo. MP3 for quick approval on request; mastering should start from WAV.
We leave enough headroom for mastering here (€89 per song) or elsewhere. Stem handoff for external mastering is described in master delivery formats. Files are labelled with title and version (mix v1, v2).
Genre and aesthetic
We mix indie, pop, hip-hop, electronic, rock and singer-songwriter material. References help: two tracks whose space, vocal presence or drum punch you recognise. We do not clone another production, but use references as shared language.
Extremely loud “mastered in the mix” targets need explicit discussion; default is a mix that leaves mastering headroom. Creative effects that fit your identity stay; generic “radio filter on everything” does not happen without agreement.
What mixing does not cover
Recording missing parts, extensive vocal tuning, drum editing as a substitute for tracking, sample clearance, production from scratch and video mix sit outside mixing. Mastering is separate. Corrupt or badly out-of-sync stems may need repair time we flag upfront.
Evening attended sessions fit Tue–Fri 11–22, Sat 12–18; the studio is closed Monday. The studio is on Overtoom in Oud-West. Tram 1 stops at Overtoom (Overtoom / Vondelpark); from there it is about a six-minute walk. You can park bicycles at the entrance; cars use paid street parking or Q-Park Byzantium on Vondelstraat, roughly a ten-minute walk. Sample-rights questions point to article 11 in the terms and legal notice.

Working with other services
Many clients combine mixing with earlier vocal recording or band recording in our 3 rooms. Charlotte de Vries and Lars Bakker may already know the material, which shortens briefing. New clients are welcome — include your best rough mix so we hear your starting point.
Mastering often follows in the same studio for consistent handling. Spoken-word mixing happens occasionally; table recordings usually start with podcast recording. General questions: FAQ or services.

FAQ
How many tracks can I send?
Up to 48 tracks are included in €195. Larger lane counts (big orchestral mocks) are quoted upfront — email a track list via contact.
Can I send my DAW session instead of WAV?
Printed WAV is preferred for compatibility. Pro Tools or Logic sessions may work by arrangement; expect extra import time.
How fast is the first mix?
With complete stems, often within a few business days. Deadlines and queues are set out in mix turnaround planning.
Do you mix English-language releases?
Yes — lyric language does not change the mix workflow. Feedback can be in Dutch or English.
What if I want changes after mastering?
Small tweaks sometimes go via a new master; structural mix changes after mastering mean remixing. Book mastering only after approved mix v2.
